Don’t do what I do

Some people read the title and they wonder what this is and others may already know.  I am talking about good ol’ fashion dodgeball that many of us grew to respect.  About ten years ago many of us played with the textured rubber red balls.  If you got hit you felt it, it may have left a welt if the ball came hard enough.  I know a few schools today are still using these balls today but it’s rare to see them.  Nowadays you see these weak little foam piece of crap balls where if you get hit you don’t feel anything.  I was in a college dodgeball league and we used these little piece of crap balls and I was seriously dissapointed.  Even in the movie dodgeball, they used the red textured rubber balls that we all grew up with.  Here are a few reasons why textured balls are better.

• If you are hit you know it
• You learned how to dodge instead of taking a hit from a redball
• There is weight behind the ball so you can get a good throw
• When the ball hits the wall you can hear the sweet sound of a bounce back
• The regulation size balls are easier to catch because you can curl up when one touches the stomach
