A question about why I blog

I was reading someone’s elses blog and they talk about why people blog and came up with simple questions and was looking for answers from other bloggers.  I noticed this and thought I might write a little bit about why I blog and who I blog for.

Some people blog for fame and to get in a niche market for one particular subject and I’m okay with that.  But I write for myself from the perspective of a friend that has those crazy stories.  A few friends enjoyed the stories I spoke about and my take on them.  So I decided to write a few down and expose that to the people.  My blog is for my friends and anyone who wants to read it.  It’s just something to read.

I would blog the old way in a journal.  I have done it before but it’s so much easier for me to blog on the internet.  But there is a difference in blogging on the internet and writing in my journal.  My journal is my own personal thoughts that I refuse to let anyone else.  My blog is just my stories out floating around for everyone to read but my journal is my own personal stories with my feelings that I couldn’t let anyone read.  So I would blog old school style in a journal but wouldn’t let anyone read it.

A blog goal that I wish is just to have people read my blog and have them comment.  I just want some kind of reassurance that people read my blog and can have a say in things.  This may sound a little selfish but I’d like to get some kind of traffic.  I get a little happiness when I look on my analytics and I see pageviews.  I feel like jumping for joy when I saw that I am getting traffic.

Something that I do enjoy in my blog and that I guess is a more subconcious goal is that I am not judged on my writing and I can let my mind be free.  I am free from academia and the rules set by papers and such but I can just write and let the world see what I can do.  Plus my writing makes sense to me and that works.

Another reason I set up this blog is just to prove that I can do it and make it work.  I did not think I could make a blog.  It just seemed really far fetched but I did it.  I made it work and now I’m using it so I guess that was my biggest goal for this blog.

5 goals I wanted for my blog :

  1. For my friends to read my thoughts as well as anyone else
  2. Too have an open place to put my thoughts, I like wiriting in journals but it’s too personal for me to share
  3. Selfish: Get traffic, but i feel better when i look at my analytics and see traffic
  4. Just the ability to free write whatever I wanted
  5. Wanted to prove to myself that I could make a blog

Those are my five reasons behind this blog.  I could go more in depth and find more but I think this is okay for now.
